How does it work?

The flow to show Power BI reports consists of three layers. The bottom layer is the Power BI service itself, with the reports. The layer above is the Azure layer, this holds the users able to view the reports. In order to be able to share reports through DataTako, the renderer service needs to be able to make a passthrough connection with your shared Power BI reports. The way it does this is with a so called ‘App Registration’ in Azure.

An App Registration can be seen as a ‘computer’ user that is able to securely access Azure services and APIs. Such as the Power BI API. In turn this App Registration is able to display your report when you or anyone that you shared the report with is opened it through DataTako.
